Shields was recently released by the UFC after a poor performance against Hector Lombard. He was brought in to fight inside the Octagon after leaving the Strikeforce middleweight championship behind in 2010. Shields will enter a division full of former UFC castoffs, with champion Rousimar Palhare, Jon Fitch, and Josh Burkman at the helm. The deal is apparently for four-fights, and is expected to debut in the Summer.
