Jon Jones (Dave Mandel/Sherdog)dJbtLP2jCvwUFC 172: Jones vs. Teixeira Video Preview The MMA Corner Staff April 21, 2014 Events, Previews, Spotlight, Video On Saturday, April 26, the UFC will host UFC 172: Jones vs. Teixeira from the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore. In the night’s main event, light heavyweight champion Jon Jones will look for his seventh title defense as he takes on hard-charging Brazilian Glover Teixeira. The 26-year-old Jones has been out of action since his 25-minute war against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165 in September. Jones retained his belt with a controversial decision win. For Teixeira, the fight will mark a chance to extend his gaudy 20-fight winning streak that includes 18 stoppages. The co-main event also takes place in the 205-pound division as Phil Davis and Anthony “Rumble” Johnson look to put themselves in title contention with a win. Davis extended his record to 12-1 (with one no-contest) by eking out a decision over former champion Lyoto Machida in August. Johnson will make his return to the promotion after stringing together six straight wins outside the Octagon. The 30-year-old was released from the promotion following UFC 142 for missing weight for the third time with the promotion. Also on the pay-per-view main card, former Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold meets Tim Boetsch, hard-nosed lightweight Jim Miller locks horns with Yancy Medeiros, and talented featherweights Andre Fili and Max Holloway face off. The action kicks off Saturday at 7 p.m. ET with two fights streaming on the promotion’s digital network, UFC Fight Pass. Four additional bouts will follow on Fox Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET, with the five-fight main card beginning at 10 p.m. ET live on pay-per-view.
