UFC 179 set for Rio de Janeiro in October

The UFC has announced that the UFC 179 card will go down on Oct. 25 from Rio de Janeiro at Maracanazinho gymnasium. This will be a month after the UFC holds a Fight Night card in Brasilia. No fight has been named as the card’s headliner but it would almost certainly feature a Brazilian fighter.

The fighters have weighed in for the MFC 40 event. The card features two title fights with Sam Alvey facing Wes Swofford in a middleweight scrap and Tom Gallicchio faces Kurt Southern in a  lightweight affair. The full results are as follows:

‘Rumble’ vs. ‘Lil’ Nog’ tabbed for UFC on Fox 12 

A light heavyweight bout between Anthony “Rumble” Johnson and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will take place July 26 at UFC on Fox 12 in San Jose.

Rumble recently returned to the promotion and upset Phil Davis at UFC 172. Nogueira has been out of action since a unanimous decision win over Rashad Evans at UFC 156 last February.

UFC on Fox 12 takes place from the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. More bouts for the event are expected to be revealed in the near future.

Struve returns against Mitrione at UFC 175 

Towering heavyweight Stefan Struve has been cleared to fight following a heart condition and the Dutchman will square off against Matt Mitrione on July 5 in Las Vegas.

Struve has been out of action for over a year following a TKO loss to Mark Hunt. Mitrione, meanwhile, scored a knockout of Shawn Jordan in March.

UFC 175 takes place from the Mandalay Bay Events Center. It will be headlined by a pair of title fights as middleweight champion Chris Weidman defends against Lyoto Machida and women’s bantamweight queen Ronda Rousey squares off with Alexis Davis.

UFC Fight Night heading to Brasilia 

The UFC will make its first appearance in Brazil’s capital on Sept. 13.

The promotion will visit Nilson Nelson Gymnasium with a Fight Night event.

UFC to visit Maine 

The UFC is headed to Bangor, Maine on Aug. 16 for UFC Fight Night 47.

UFC President Dana White revealed that the promotion will visit the Cross Insurance Center for the event.

BattleGrounds MMA complete lineup for tournament 

Oklahoma’s BattleGrounds MMA has revealed the final two participants for its one-night, single-elimination, eight-man tournament on June 27.

Joining the previously announced Cody McKenzie, Dennis Hallman, Luigi Fioravanti, David Mitchell, Chris Honeycutt and Josh Bryant will be a pair of UFC veterans, Roan Carneiro and Brock Larson.

One Night Elimination (O.N.E.) will take place from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla.

Lindsey replaces Cedeno at UFC Fight Night 42 

Unbeaten lightweight Jake Lindsey will make his UFC debut on June 7 in Albuquerque, as he replaces the injured Yosdenis Cedeno against Jon Tuck.

Lindsey has finished seven of his nine wins, with his last four victories coming by knockout.

The event will be headlined by former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson facing off with Rustam Khabilov.

Cage Warriors reveals two main cards for 69th event 

Cage Warriors Fighting Championship has revealed that its vacant middleweight title will be on the line at Cage Warriors 69: Super Saturday as Jack Hermansson meets Norman Paraisy.

The promotion’s vacant lightweight belt will also be on the line in the second headlining affair as Stevie Ray takes on Curt Warburton.

The event will feature two main cards on Saturday, June 7, from The Forum in Kentish Town, London, England.

Cejudo out, Garcia now meets Page at Legacy FC 31

Legacy FC 31 will no longer be headlined by a flyweight title fight between Henry Cejudo and UFC veteran Damacio Page after Cejudo was forced out due to “personal reasons.”

Page will remain on the card, but will slide to the co-main event to take on Elias Garcia.

A middleweight title fight between William “Bubba” Bush and Roger Narvaez will move into the night’s top billing.

Legacy FC 31 takes place June 13 at Houston’s Arena Theatre. The main card airs on AXS TV.
