It’s been almost a decade since Pantera/Damageplan guitarist “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott was gunned down while playing at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio on Dec. 8, 2004. The tragic event sent shockwaves throughout the metal and hard rock community, as Abbott was considered a living legend by his peers and fans alike.

UFC welterweight Matt Brown, who headlines UFC Fight Night 40 on May 10 in Cincinnati, was in attendance that night. In the above video, Brown recalls the events of the evening, including the tragic moments of Abbott (courtesy of UFC on Fox).

On Saturday, the red-hot Brown clashes with Brazilian Erick Silva from the U.S. Bank Arena. Brown enters the contest riding a six-fight winning streak with five of the wins coming via strikes. Silva, meanwhile, has alternated wins and losses throughout his seven-fight Octagon career. The 29-year-old most recently demolished Takanori Sato in less than a minute in February.

The 13-fight event will kick off Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET with three fights streaming on the promotion’s digital network, UFC Fight Pass. Four additional bouts will follow on Fox Sports 2 at 8 p.m. ET with the six-fight main card airing live at 10 p.m. ET.
