On Saturday, May 10, the UFC hosted UFC Fight Night 40: Brown vs. Silva from the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati.

The night’s main event featured a battle of welterweights looking to move up the 170-pound ladder as red-hot Matt Brown clashed with Brazilian Erick Silva. Brown entered the contest riding a six-fight winning streak with five of the wins coming via strikes. Silva, meanwhile, had alternated wins and losses throughout his seven-fight Octagon career. The 29-year-old most recently demolished Takanori Sato in less than a minute in February.

In the co-main event, hard-hitting middleweight Lorenz Larkin faced off with gritty, Long Island-product Constantinos Philippou. Both fighters were looking to get back in the win column after suffering defeats at UFC Fight Night 35 in January. Larkin fell on the scorecards to Brad Tavares, while Philippou was stopped by former Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold in the first round.

The 13-fight event kicked off Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET with three fights streaming on the promotion’s digital network, UFC Fight Pass. Four additional bouts followed on Fox Sports 2 at 8 p.m. ET with the six-fight main card airing live at 10 p.m. ET.
