On Saturday, June 7, the UFC hosted UFC Fight Night 42: Henderson vs. Khabilov from the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, N.M.

In the night’s main event, former WEC and UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson locked horns with once-beaten Dagestani Rustam Khabilov. The 30-year-old Henderson had tasted defeat just twice in his last 20 fights—both at the hands of current champion Anthony Pettis. Henderson looked to build off a controversial, split decision win over Josh Thomson in January. Khabilov, meanwhile, had taken the UFC by storm. Training out of Jackson’s MMA, the 29-year-old had run through Vinc Pichel and Yancy Medeiros, and put on a “Fight of the Night” performance against Jorge Masvidal in November.

The co-main event of the evening pitted two Ultimate Fighter winners against one another as season one’s Diego Sanchez faced off with season nine’s Ross Pearson. For Sanchez, the bout marked a homecoming, as he competed in his hometown and aimed to snap a two-fight losing streak. Pearson looked to regain the momentum he had before a bizarre no-contest in October against Melvin Guillard.

The 11-fight event kicked off Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET with a single fight streaming on the promotion’s digital network, UFC Fight Pass. Four additional preliminary card bouts followed on Fox Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET, with the six-fight main card beginning at 10 p.m. ET.

An absolutely horrible decision by the judges. Unreal at best that they or anyone for that matters thinks that Sanchez won any round at all. Amazing incompetency.
