The UFC will officially launch the women’s, 115-pound strawweight division on July 16 in New Jersey as Brazil’s Claudia Gadelha meets Finland’s Tina Lahdemaki at UFC Fight Night 45 in Atlantic City.

The promotion announced its plans for the division in December, acquiring 11 fighters from Invicta Fighting Championships, including Gadelha. The 11 fighters were expected to partake in The Ultimate Fighter 20 which will crown the division’s first champion. However, Gadelha opted not to participate, citing concerns over repeatedly making weight over the six-week reality show.

As such, the unbeaten Nova Uniao product will be part of the division’s first bout inside the Octagon. The 25-year-old has finished eight of her 11 wins, with six coming by way of submission. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt was last in action at Invicta FC 6 and stopped Japanese veteran Ayaka Hamasaki by third-round TKO. She was expected to challenge Invicta champion Carla Esparza for the 115-pound title in December, but was hospitalized with gastroenteritis following weigh-ins.

The 26-year-old Lahdemaki also possesses an unblemished record, although her previous five contests have come in the flyweight division. The RNC Sport Club fighter submitted longtime veteran Karla Benitez in her last fight via first-round arm-triangle. All five of her fights have come in her native Finland.

UFC Fight Night 45 will take place from the Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, N.J. It is headlined by a lightweight bout between Donald Cerrone and Jim Miller. The night’s main card airs live on Fox Sports 1, with the preliminary card streaming live on UFC Fight Pass. At this point in time, it’s unclear where on the card the Gadelha-Lahdemaki match-up will be placed.
