Resurrection Fighting Alliance’s 16th event on July 25 has been hit with another injury.

Just days after bantamweight Lauren Barefoot pulled out with a neck injury, Joe Murphy has been forced out of the night’s co-main event against Jarred Mercado. Taking Murphy’s place in the bantamweight No. 1 contender bout will be Jake Klemme.

Klemme enters the contest riding a five-fight winning streak. All 10 of Klemme’s victories have been by way of finish, including his last three via strikes.

The former Northwestern wrestler Mercado has compiled an 11-1 record while largely competing in Colorado. Mercado bounced back from the first loss of his career by scoring a decision win over Josh Huber in January.

RFA 16 takes place from the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colo. It will be headlined by a battle of unbeaten heavyweights as Colorado’s own Josh Copeland squares off with Utah’s Jan Jorgensen. The pair will be fighting for the promotion’s vacant heavyweight title.

Also on the main card, welterweights Josh Cavan and Chris Heatherly lock horns, bantamweight Zac Chavez meets Boston Salmon, and Sid Bice takes on Carlos Huerta in a flyweight bout. Additional bouts for the event are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.

The RFA 16 main card will air live on AXS TV on Friday, July 25 beginning at 10 p.m. ET.
