“The Hulk” won’t be smashing anyone inside the Octagon anytime soon.

The MMA Corner has learned through sources close to the situation that Australia-based heavyweight Soa Palelei suffered a fractured rib in his UFC Fight Night 43 clash with Jared Rosholt on June 28 in Auckland, New Zealand. The injury is expected to keep Palelei out for a minimum of four months.

Palelei suffered a unanimous decision loss at the hands of Rosholt, snapping the 36-year-old’s 11-fight winning streak. Prior to the loss, Palelei had scored three straights wins inside the Octagon, stopping Nikita Krylov, Pat Barry and Ruan Potts.

Unfortunately for Palelei, he’s no stranger to rib injuries. In his UFC debut against the aforementioned Krylov, Palelei also suffered fractured rib. His subsequent lackluster performance drew criticism from UFC President Dana White, but Palelei went on to put on two dominant displays in the Octagon against Barry and Potts.

It wasn’t all bad news for Palelei, though. A potential orbital fracture was found to just be bruising and given the recommended recovery time for the rib fracture, there’s still the chance that the Australian heavyweight could be back in action before the year’s end. That also happens to coincide with the UFC’s rumored return to Australia.
