On Saturday, July 5, the UFC hosted UFC 175: Weidman vs. Machida from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

In the night’s main event, the promotion’s middleweight title was be on the line as champion Chris Weidman squared off with former lightweight heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida. Weidman captured the belt with a stunning knockout of Anderson Silva at UFC 162, and then retained the title in their rematch at UFC 168. The Brazilian Machida, meanwhile, had picked up back-to-back wins at 185 pounds: a knockout of Mark Munoz and a decision win over Gegard Mousasi.

The night’s co-main event also featured UFC gold on the line as women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey looked to continue her dominance at 135 pounds as she faced off with Canadian Alexis Davis. Rousey was last in action at UFC 170, scoring her first TKO win over Sara McMann. Davis rode the momentum of a five-fight winning streak into the title affair, including three straight inside the Octagon.

Rounding out the main card was a middleweight contest between Uriah Hall and Thiago Santos and a bantamweight battle featuring Marcus Brimage and Russell Doane. A heavyweight clash between Matt Mitrione and Stefan Struve was canceled after Struve blacked out during pre-fight warm-ups and was taken to the hospital.

The 10-fight card kicked off Saturday at 7 p.m. ET with two fights streaming on UFC Fight Pass. Four additional bouts followed on Fox Sports 1 on at 8 p.m. ET, with the pay-per-view main card beginning at 10 p.m. ET.
