Following the announcement that Bobby Green will now meet Josh Thomson at UFC on Fox 12 on July 26 in San Jose, Calif., lightweight Abel Trujillo has a new opponent.

Facing off with Trujillo will be England’s Ross Pearson at UFC Fight Night 47 on Aug. 16 on Bangor, Maine.

Pearson enters the contest looking to put his last two Octagon appearances behind him. In his last outing, Pearson dropped a controversial decision to fellow Ultimate Fighter winner Diego Sanchez. Prior to that, Pearson fought to a no-contest with Melvin Guillard after Guillard connected with an illegal knee. The 29-year-old has earned seven wins under the UFC banner and will be looking to move closer to contention against Trujillo.

Trujillo, meanwhile, will look to build on the momentum of two straight wins inside the Octagon. The 30-year-old Blackzilians product has scored back-to-back stoppage victories against Jamie Varner and Roger Bowling.

UFC on Fox 12 takes place Saturday, July 26, from the SAP Center in San Jose and is headlined by a welterweight contest between Robbie Lawler and Matt Brown. The night’s main card airs live on Fox. The preliminary card will be split between four fights on Fox and four fights streaming live on UFC Fight Pass.

UFC Fight Night 47 takes place Saturday, Aug. 16 from the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine. The event will be headlined by a light heavyweight bout between TUF 8 winner Ryan Bader and Strikeforce veteran Ovince Saint Preux. The card airs live on Fox Sports 1. The Pearson-Trujillo match-up is expected to be part of the night’s main card.
