RFA 16 takes place at Friday, July 25, at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colo., and will be televised live on AXS TV at 10 p.m. ET. The card will be headlined by a heavyweight fighters Jan “Janimal” Joregensen and Josh Copeland for the promotion’s inaugural heavyweight title. Also on the card is a bantamweight title-eliminator bout between Jarred Mercado and Daniel Swain and a featured welterweight bout with Chris “Stump” Heatherly vs. Josh “Superman” Cavan.

Jorgensen, who is 7-0 with one no-contest, is regarded by some as one of the best heavyweight prospects not already in the UFC. He was a defensive end at BYU from 2006-2009, and he has competed in MMA professionaly since 2011. His opponent, Copeland, is also undefeated and making his promotional debut. Copeland hails from Denver and will be fighting in front of a hometown crowd.

Cavan, who is 9-3, will also be making his promotional debut. He is currently riding a four-fight winning streak. He lives and trains out of Denver and has been to a decision three times. His opponent, Heatherly, has only suffered one loss in nine professional bouts and will be looking for his first win under the RFA banner in his sophomore appearance with the promotion.
