Faber battles Kanehara at UFN 52 in Japan

Urijah Faber will take a trip to Saitama Super Arena to take on Masanori Kanehara at UFC Fight Night 52 on Sept. 20. Faber submitted Alex Caceres at last month’s UFC 175 blockbuster. Meanwhile, Kanehara’s UFC debut comes on the heels of a disqualification loss in  DEEP: 66 Impact.

WSOF 12 adds four undercard bouts

Four undercard bouts will stream live on NBCSports.com during next weekend’s World Series of Fighting 12 card in Las Vegas. Lightweights Lucas Montoya and Jimmy Spicuzza will throw down in the last of the four bouts on the preliminary card. Also, Danny Davis Jr. will take on Jorge Lopez in welterweight action, bantamweights Adam Acquaviva and Cody Maltais will square off, and featherweights will trade leather when Bryson Gutches takes on Soslan Abanokov.

Riggs injured, Spencer meets Thiago at UFN 51

After an accident forced Joe Riggs from his return to the Octagon at UFC Fight Night 51, Sean Spencer will step in to face Paulo Thiago in hostile territory on Sept. 13. Spencer sits at two wins in his last three bouts, with the lone loss coming in a close contest against Alex Garcia. Thiago sits with four losses in his last five bouts, and looks to lock up another win in his home country.

Two bouts added to UFN 51

The lineup for UFC Fight Night 51 will continue to grow with the addition of a lightweight clash of Gleison Tibau against Piotr Hallman, as well as a featherweight clash of Dashon Johnson against Godofredo Pepey. Tibau takes a quick turnaround after his win over Pat Healy two weeks ago in Atlantic City to face Hallman, who submitted Yves Edwards at UFC Fight Night 42. Pepey, meanwhile, comes off of a win over Noad Lahat to face Johnson, who suffered his first pro loss at UFC Fight Night 43 in New Zealand.

Green faces Masvidal on loaded UFC 178 bill

Coming off of respective decision victories at UFC on Fox 12, Jorge Masivdal and Bobby Green will see action opposite each other as part of a loaded UFC 178 fight card on Sept. 27. Masvidal’s win on last weekend’s “Fox 12″ bill came against Daron Cruickshank in a unanimous-decision triumph, while Green opened up the main card with a split-decision win over Josh Thomson.
