UFC Fight Night 57 Heads To Austin, Texas Trey Downey August 20, 2014 Events, News, Spotlight Another UFC deprived market will be getting their octagon fix later this year. A Fox Sports 1 Fight Night event will take place on November 22 from the Frank Erwin Center on the campus of the University of Texas. This will be Austin’s second time treated to UFC action. The news was announced on Wednesday’s edition of UFC Tonight. Back in 2010 the city hosted another Fight Night event headlined by a middleweight contest between Nate Marquardt and Rousimar Palhares. The arena holds a maximum capacity of 16,000, but the UFC drew 8,000 fans with a smaller configuration for the first event. It remains to be seen how many fans will show up this time, but they should be treated to a great card. This event will be the only event taking place on that day. Initially the UFC also had an event planned for Instanbul, Turkey on the same day, but that UFC Fight Pass card has apparently been scrapped for the time being. Turkey’s misfortune could end up being Texas’ pleasure. Instead of a watered down card possibly for both we should get a stellar card full of what probably would have been the top flight bouts on both cards. No headliner or other bouts were announced for the card, but an announcement on those, as well as ticket information, should be released in the coming weeks. The UFC has currently only announced cards up till UFC Fight Night 54: MacDonald vs. Saffiedine. That event takes place on October 4, so announcements of locations and main events for both Fight Night 55 and Fight Night 56 should also be announced in the coming weeks.
