In Case You Missed It: A Look Back At The Week That Was August 24-30 Josh Davis September 1, 2014 Events, News, Spotlight If you follow MMA then you have undoubtedly heard about the craziness that was UFC 177. Hours before the weigh ins, Renan Barao fell in his bath tub while trying to cut weight and was immediately taken to the hospital, forcing him out of his scheduled fight with TJ Dillashaw. The UFC, left scrambling and with few options, looked to UFC newcomer Joe Soto to step up and fight TJ Dillashaw for the UFC Featherweight Championship on one day’s notice. Soto jumped on the opportunity and fought his heart for four rounds before being finished in the 5th. The UFC was not the only one holding events or breaking news last week. ONE FC 19 saw three title fights, with Ben Askren taking home the Welterweight Championship. In addition, Legacy FC put on another exciting show with Legacy FC 34.
