Finally, Bellator 123 fight week is upon us and fight fans everywhere have a reason to rejoice. Bellator may be the top MMA promotion in the world but that doesn’t mean they aren’t a great alternative for fight fans.

Bellator MMA is littered with great talent and that will be on full display on Friday September 5, 2014 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT for Bellator 123 as two of the promotion’s top talents battle it out in a re-match for the featherweight title.

Champion Pat Curran defeated challenger Patricio Freire when the two first met at Bellator 85 by a razor thin split decision. Freire is coming in highly motivated riding a four-fight win streak with three knockouts.

The odds from this card aren’t great and there are no real “live” underdogs but there is always money to be made if you know how to play the game.

Pat Curran, -125 vs. Patricio Freire, -105

Curran and Freire are as evenly matched as they come and that is why is bout has been listed as a “Pickem”. From a technical standpoint Freire is the better fighter; he is faster, stronger and more technically sound. But with that said Curran has the kind of heart and toughness that you can’t teach. While he may look overmatched on paper he is never overmatched in the cage.

Two factors to keep in mind here; Freire is on a roll right now and it is difficult to beat a fighter as tough as Freire twice.

The Play – Take Freire for the win!

Cheick Kongo, -245 vs. Lavar Johnson, +185

Bobby Lashley, -800 vs. Josh Burns, +500

Dustin Jacoby, +385 vs. Muhammed Lawal, -535

All three of these fights are dogs and you should not place any standalone bets on them. The favorites should all win with relative ease in these bouts. The only small concern I have is Lavar Johnson is a “live” underdog because of his KO power. With that said Kongo is a much better striker so he should still get the victory.

The Play – Its simple take all of the favorites on a three-fight parlay. The twist is to take them all to win by stoppage for a nice payout.
