RFA 18 Preview RJ Gardner September 11, 2014 Events, News, Previews On September 12, 2014 Resurrection Fighting Alliance will head to the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, NM for RFA 18. The event features a flyweight title fight between RFA champion Matt Manzanares and tough Brazilian challenger Alexandre Pantoja. This will be Manzanares’ first defense of his title and he will have his work cut out for him with Pantoja. Pantoja is a Nova Uniao product who will be making his American debut and he is riding a solid seven fight win streak. Manzanares was initially expected to meet Joby Sanchez but Sanchez was called up to the UFC. Manzanares is hungry to not only defend his title but to make a statement to the UFC that he deserves a shot to compete against the best competition in the world. A win over Pantoja would go a long way towards helping his argument. The co-main event of the evening features a bantamweight bout between the always entertaining Ulysses Gomez and Able Cullum. Gomez is one of the true pioneers in MMA as he played an important role in the development of the flyweight and bantamweight divisions. Cullum has not competed in three years but he is focused and excited about coming back to the sport and fighting in front of his home state fans. The main card will be rounded out with a welterweight bout between striker Chidi Njokuani and grappler Steve Hanna; a lightweight bout between Muay Thai practitioner Mehdi Baghdad and a surging Evan DeLong. Also in action in the women’s bantamweight division Brenda Gonzales takes on Heather Bassett. Kicking off all of the main card action will be a bantamweight bout between Andrian Cruz and Justin Linn. Catch all of the main card action live on AXS TV starting at 10pm EST/7pm PST. Wyomma Come On UFC Manzan Is Ready! Most Entertaining Fighter In RFA, And Nicest Guy You Will Ever Meet!
