With UFC 177 behind us, it’s time to take a look on the next event, UFC 178, that will take place on September 27 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The headliners of the event are Demetrious Johnson, defending his UFC Flyweight Champion belt against current #8 in the official UFC flyweight rankings, Chris Cariaso. The event was supposed to be headlined by a heavyweight championship fight between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson. Gustafsson backed out of the fight due to a knee injury that required six weeks of rehab, and he was replaced by Daniel Cormier in the fight. Jones later pulled out himself due to an injury, so the fight between them was re-scheduled for January 3, 2015.

Bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz will return to the UFC during this event. He was sidelined for a long time – first due to his coaching duties at the Ultimate Fighter 15, and later because of a series of injuries that required a lengthy recovery. He will be up against Japanese cage fighter Takeya Mizugaki.

We will also have the chance to welcome a newcomer at the UFC 178 – Eddie Alvarez, former Bellator fighter, will make his UFC debut in a fight against former professional boxer and kickboxer Donald Cerrone in a lightweight match.

But let’s get back to the headliners of the evening: Johnson vs. Cariaso.

Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson, the current UFC Flyweight Champion, signed with the UFC in 2010, and made his debut with a victory against Japanese superstar Norifumi Yamamoto in 2011. Since then he has fought 23 times; he won 20 of his matches, lost only twice (both times by decision) with one draw. He won his title in 2012, in a fight against Joseph Benavidez at UFC 152, and he has since defended it twice.

Chris “Kamikaze” Cariaso has an almost equally impressive UFC career. His first UFC fight took place on January 22, 2011, when he faced Will Campuzano and won by unanimous decision. Out of his 22 fights, he won 17 (three by knockout, two by submission), and he lost five times. He will have a shot at the UFC Flyweight Champion title on September 27, at UFC 178.

As you can see, there is a lot of excitement to expect at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on the 27th of September. To kill time until then, you can browse our collection of video slot machines at slots.redflushcasino.com and be patient – great fights are coming your way.
