UFC fight Night 57 finally has a main event.

On Wednesday, during an episode of UFC Tonight, a featherweight matchup between former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and the surging Cub Swanson was officially announced as the headlining act for the November 22 card in Austin, TX

Edgar (17-4-1), currently the number three ranked featherweight according The MMA Corner fighter rankings, is coming off a very dominant fourth round TKO victory over mixed martial arts legend B.J. Penn in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale. Prior to this win ‘The Answer’ earned a dominant decision victory in his 145-pound debut against Charles Olivera in the co-main event of UFC 162 in July 2013. The New Jersey native had previously reigned supreme atop the 155-pounds division for a little more than two years before dropping the belt to former champion Benson Henderson. He will enter this bout with a UFC record of 11-4-1.

Swanson (21-5), currently ranked number four, enters this bout riding an incredible six fight winning streak, with three of these wins coming by way of knockout. In his most previous outing, the Jackson-Winkeljohn product earned a decision victory over Jeremy Stephens in the main event of UFC Fight Night 44 in June. He will enter this bout with a UFC record of 6-1.

While nothing is official, the winner of this matchup will most likely face the winner of Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes, which is currently scheduled for UFC 179, for the UFC featherweight title.

Also announced for the main card is a lightweight matchup between the popular Bobby Green and Brazilian striker Edson Barboza.

Green (23-5), currently ranked number 10, has won all four of his UFC bouts since making his promotional debut at UFC 156 in January 2013. In his most recent out, the man known as ‘King’ earned the biggest win of his career in the form of a tight split decision over former Strikeforce champion Josh Thomson at UFC on FOX 12 in July.

Barboza, Edgar’s teammate in New Jersey, is coming off a very impressive body kick knockout over Evan Dunham at UFC Fight Night 45 in July. Prior to this win ‘Junior’ suffered a first-round submission loss to Donald Cerrone at UFC on FOX 11 in April. He will enter this bout with a UFC record of 8-2, including five by way of stoppage.

UFC Fight Night 57 is currently scheduled to take place on November 22 at Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas.
