World Series of Fighting has taken a major step in competing with the other major mixed martial arts promotions of the world.

On Monday, WSOF officials  announced WSOF 15 has been scheduled for November 15, which just so happens to the be the same day UFC 180 and Bellator 131 are scheduled to take place.

Currently set to headline the card is a middleweight title fight between champion Dave Branch and fellow UFC veteran turned WSOF employee Yushin Okami.

Branch (14-3) is coming off a very impressive first round submission win over Jesse Tayler at WSOF 10 to earn the promotion’s inaugural 185-pound championship. Prior to this win the Renzo Grace Jiu-Jitsu product earned unanimous decision in his three bouts under the WSOF banner. His last professional loss came at the hands of current UFC light heavyweight contender Anthony Johnson at Titan FC 22 back in May 2012. He will enter this bout eight career stoppage victories.

Okami (30-8), a former UFC title contender, is coming off a second round submission victory in his promotional debut against Svetlozar Savov at WSOF 9. Prior to this win, ‘Thunder’ suffered a first round knockout loss to Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza at UFC Fight Night 28 last September 2013. He left the UFC with a promotional record of 13-5, which includes wins over Mark Muñoz, Hector Lombard and Nate Marquardt.

Also announced for the card is a lightweight matchup between champion Justin Gaethje and UFC veteran Melvin Guillard as well as a women’s strawweight title fight between champion Jessica Aguilar and Kalindra Faria.

Gaethje (12-0) will enter this bout with a WSOF record of 5-0. In his last appearance inside the cage, fans saw him walk away with a second round knockout over fan favorite Nick Newell as WSOF 11 in July. This marked his seventh straight knockout victory.

Guillard (32-13-2) was last seen earning a second round knockout victory in his promotional debut at WSOF 11. Prior to his win ‘The Young Assasin’ suffered a decision loss to former teammate Michael Johnson at UFC Fight Night 37. He left the UFC with a promotional of record of 12-9 (1), which includes wins over Jeremy Stephans, Gleison Tibau and Mac Danzig.

Aguilar (18-4), currently the number one strawweight according to the Unified Women’s Mixed Martial Arts rankings, was last seen defending her belt against Emi Fujino at WSOF 10. This pushed her win streak to nine straight, including two straight under the WSOF banner. She will enter this bout with 10 career stoppage victories.

Faria (15-3-1) will enter this bout riding an 11 fight winning streak. She was last seen in a decision victory over Sanja Sucevic at XFC International 4 in May. She will also enter this bout with 10 career stoppage victories.

  • WSOF middleweight champ Dave Branch (14-3) vs. Yushin Okami (30-8)
  • WSOF lightweight champ Justin Gaethje (12-0) vs. Melvin Guillard (32-13-2)
  • WSOF women’s strawweight champ Jessica Aguilar (18-4) vs. Kalindra Faria (15-3-1)
