Ev Ting (One FC/Sherdog)ONE FC 21: What To Watch For RJ Gardner October 13, 2014 Events, Spotlight On Friday, October 17, 2014, Asia’s biggest MMA promotion—ONE Fighting Championship—heads to the Putra Indoor Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for ONE FC 21: Roar of the Tigers. Many American fans know the ONE FC name, but few take the time to tune in for all of the action. As ONE FC continues to grow and expand, that will change, but for now, the organizations remains MMA’s best kept secret. If you are a ravenous MMA fan like myself, you don’t need any extra incentive to tune in. But if you are new to ONE FC and are on the fence about paying for the stream, here’s all the reason you need. Lighter Weight Fighters Outside of one welterweight bout, this entire card is made up of fights taking place at 145 pounds or below. It’s a throwback event for fans who loved the WEC, and fans should expect to see high-energy, technically-brilliant fights. While there aren’t a lot of knockouts from the lighter weights, the pace these fighters compete at is amazing. Lighter weight fighters bring the energy and that electrifies the crowd making the viewing experience great. Ev Ting New Zealand bantamweight Ev Ting has a lot of potential, but he is still a very raw prospect. Unlike many bantamweight fighters, Ting has real knockout power and that is a huge weapon in a division that traditionally doesn’t pack a lot of punch. Ting is coming off of a first round TKO victory at ONE FC 17 and he is looking to battle his way into the ONE FC bantamweight title picture. Keep your eye on Ting and remember his name because you will be hearing it a lot in the future. Marat Gafurov The biggest reason to tune into ONE FC 21 is to watch featherweight dynamo Marat Gafurov put on a show. The Russian is undefeated in his pro career at 9-0 and has finished all but three of his opponents. Gafurov is the reigning M-1 Global featherweight champion and he will be making his ONE FC debut in Kuala Lumpur. Russia has become a true MMA hotbed over the past few years and Gafurov is looking to continue Russia’s push for MMA world domination.
