On Thursday, the UFC announced a heavyweight matchup between Shawn Jordan and promotional newcomer Jared Cannonier has officially bend added to UFC 182 in January.

Jordan (16-6), a former LSU fullback, is coming off a very impressive third round TKO victory over Jack May at UFC Fight Night 47 in August. Prior to this loss ‘The Savage’ suffered back-to-back knockout losses to Matt Mitrione and Gabriel Gonzaga. He will enter this bout with 12 career knockout victories and a UFC record of 4-3.

Cannonier (7-0) was last seen earning his first career decision victory over Tony Lopez under the Alaska Fighting Championship banner. Prior to this win, ‘Kryptonite’ scored three submission victories and three knockout victories.

UFC 182 is currently scheduled to take place on Jan. 3 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. A light heavyweight championship bout between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier will serve as the night’s main event. A UFC women’s bantamweight between Ronda Rousey and Cat Zingano is expected to serve as the co-main event.
