On Thursday, UFC officials announced a welterweight matchup between Erick Silva and Mike Rhodes is in the works for UFC Fight Night 58 in December.

Silva (16-5) has not been competed since his ‘Fight of the Year‘ performance against Matt Brown in their main event fight at UFC Fight Night 40 in May, where fans saw him suffer a devastating third round knockout loss. Prior to this loss ‘Índio’ earned a Performance of the Night bonus for his impressive first round knockout over Takenori Sato at UFC Fight Night 36 in February. He will enter this bout with 13 career stoppage victories and UFC record of 4-4.

Rhodes (6-3), a former RFA champion, will enter this bout riding a two-fight losing streak. In his most recent performance ‘Biggie’ dropped a decision loss to TUF: Smashes winner Robert Whittaker at UFC Fight Night 43 in June. He will enter this bout with four career stoppage victories.

UFC Fight Night 58 is set to take place on Dec. 20 at the Ginásio José Corrêa in São Paulo, Brazil. A middleweight matchup between C.B. Dollaway and former UFC light heavyweight champion turned middleweight contender Lyoto Machida will serve as the night’s main event.
