On Wednesday, the UFC announced a middleweight bout between a pair of mixed martial arts veterans in Dan Henderson and Gegard Mousasi has officially been named the co-main event of UFC on FOX 14 in Sweden.

Henderson (30-12), a former Pride FC and Strikeforce champion, will be making his return to the 185-pound division for the first time since suffering a decision loss to Jake Shields in their title bout at infamous Strikeforce: Nashville event in April 2010. Since that night, the 44-year-old former Olympian has compiled a record of 5-4 as a member of the light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions, including a first round TKO victory over Fedor Emelianenko. However, “Hendo” has fallen onto hard times as of late, with his last fight ending in a one-sided third round submission loss to fellow Olympian Daniel Cormier, dropping his record to 1-4 in his last five fight. He will enter this bout with 16 career stoppage victories, including 14 by way of knockout, and a career UFC record of 7-6.

His opponent, Mousasi (35-5-2), a former Strikeforce, Cage Warriors and Dream champion, will also be looking to get back into the win column after suffering a third-round submission loss to Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in the main event of UFC on FOX 50 in September.  Prior to this loss, fans witnessed the 29-year-old Dutch kickboxer walk away with his 12th career submission victory after he secured a tight rear-naked-choke against Mark Muñoz at UFC Fight Night 41 in May. He will enter this bout with an astounding 30 career stoppage victories and UFC record of 2-2.

UFC on FOX 14 is currently set to take place on Jan. 24 at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm. A light heavyweight number one contenders bout between hometown hero Alexander Gustafsson and knockout artist Anthony Johnson will serve as the night’s main event.

Tickets for the event will be available to the general public on Friday, Nov. 28 via AXS.com/UFC.
