In their initial meeting, which took place in the lightweight division, the two fighters fought to a draw at UFC Fight Night 20 after Tavares was deducted one point for an accidental shot to the groin. Lentz (25-6-2), a former NCAA Division I wrestler out of the University of Minnesota, is coming off a unanimous decision over mixed martial arts veteran Manny Gamburyan at UFC Fight Night 40 in May. Prior to this win, “The Carney” saw his three-fight winning streak snapped at the hands of former two-time title contender Chad Mendes at UFC on FOX 9 last December. He was originally scheduled to rematch Charles Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 50 before Oliveira pulled out of the fight after due to illness just hours before the event. Tavares (19-5-1), a former It’s Showtime MMA champion, was last seen securing a first round submission victory in his 145-pound debut against Robbie Peralta at UFC Fight Night 47 in August. This victory not only marked his 13th career submission win but also gave the Brazilian wins in four of his last five bouts. UFC Fight Night 60 is currently scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 14 at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado. A welterweight matchup between Matt Brown and Tarec Saffiedine will serve as the headlining act. The main card is expected to air on FOX Sports 1.
