As we approach a weekend filled with anything but fights, we reminisce on the last time we didn’t have at least one fight card to watch.

It’s been a while.

With the break in action, we turn our focus towards family and friends, but know with certainty that exhilarating fights are right around the corner.

On December 5, ONE FC will head to the Capital Region of the Philippines for their 23rd event at the Mall of Asia Arena. The evening’s main card will feature Bibiano Fernandes and Dae Hwan Kim, while former UFC veteran Brandon Vera will meet Igor Subora in a heavyweight clash.

Check out the predictions below.

James McSweeney vs. Roger Gracie

McSweeney didn’t quite make it in the UFC, but he’s recently strung together a series of wins due in large to his improved striking. His striking and submission defense remains suspect, especially as he approaches an opponent with the skills of Gracie. Expect Gracie to look for the takedown and work his jiu-jitsu while McSweeney will want to stand and exchange. Advantage Gracie.

Prediction: Gracie by Submission, Round 1

Eduard Folayang vs. Timofey Nastyukhin

At one point in his career, Folayang brought the heat. A lot has changed since then, more specifically his style as he tends to play it safe. His opponent? Not so much. The younger in youth is well-rounded in both his exchanges and ground game which is complicated by his cardio. Look for Nastyukhin to look nasty in this one.

Prediction: Nastyukhin by KO, Round 1

Brandon Vera vs. Igor Subora

Vera’s success dates back to his younger days with the UFC, more specifically in 05-06′. Vera has fallen off the tracks since then as his chin raises more questions than anything. Subora’s aggressive style matches up exceptionally well against Vera’s sub-par striking defense. Look for Vera to survive the opening frame, but don’t have your expectations set too high for the UFC vet.

Prediction: Subora by KO, Round 2

Bibiano Fernandes vs. Dae Hwan Kim

It’s hard to anticipate a main card swept with finishes. And it’s likely that comes to screeching halt when Fernandes and Kim sqaure off in the night’s main event. Fernandes is considered by many to be one of the top bantamweights in the world due to his verse style and conditioning. Kim will provide his most rugged test to date. Kim will hold his own early, but look for “The Flash” to pull away in the championship rounds.

Prediction: Fernandes by Decision
