We’re only one day into 2015 and already we have felt the wrath of the MMA gods.

On Thursday morning it was revealed a groin injury suffered in training camp has forced Tarec Saffiedine to withdraw from his scheduled main event matchup against Matt Brown at UFC Fight Night 60 in February. MMAJunkie was the forced to report the news

Saffiedine (15-4), the last Strikeforce welterweight champion, was coming off a third round TKO loss to Canadian superstar Rory MacDonald in the main event of UFC Fight Night 54 in October. This loss not only snapped Saffiedine’s five-fight win streak but also marked the first time the Belgian kickboxer has ever been finished in a fight. Prior to this loss, the “Sponge” earned a unanimous decision victory in his UFC debut against Hyun Gyu Lim in the main event of UFC Fight Night 34 in January 2014. He will enter this bout five career submission victories.

The UFC has yet to announced a new opponent for Brown

UFC Fight Night 60 is currently scheduled to take place on  Saturday, February 14 at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado. The main card is expected to air on FOX Sports 1.
