With less than forty-eight hours to go to UFC 182, the anticipation is unlike anything MMA fans have seen before. The only thing that resembles this fight in terms of media coverage and hype was UFC 148 between Chael Sonnen and then champion Anderson Silva. That fight was fueled by words, and so is this one. So, what’s different about the main event of UFC 182 between Jon “Bones” Jones and Daniel Cormier?

The two men have certainly sparred verbally leading up to this match up, and even physically on occasion. The difference is the belief in Cormier and the fans desire to see Jones fall. Jones is embodying the role of the bad guy, but even if he had the cookie cutter image he desired to conjure, people would tune in to see if he would lose. It happens with any pound-for-pound leader that has dominantly defended his title.

The UFC produced some serious pre-fight media leading right up to the day of the weigh-ins. If you haven’t seen it, be sure to watch and be prepared to be more excited for this fight than you were before.
