UFC Fight Night 59 – January 18, 2015

UFC Fight Night 59 is currently scheduled to take place on January 18 at the TD Garden in Boston. A featherweight matchup between Conor McGregor and German striker Dennis Siver will serve as the main event.

  • Costas Philippou out; Uriah Hall vs. Louis Taylor

Hall (9-4), who rose to prominence during his time on TUF 17, will enter this bout riding a two fight streak, which includes a TKO victory over fan favorite Chris Leben at UFC 168 in December 2013. Prior to this win streak, ‘Prime Time’ suffered back-to-back decision losses to John Howard and TUF teammate Kelvin Gastelum. He will enter this bout with a five career knockout losses.

Taylor (11-3), a former Strikeforce veteran, will enter this bout riding a career high four fight win streak. In his most recent performance, ‘Handgunz’ earned his third straight first round guillotine victory when he slapped on his vaunted submission against Brian Houston at APFC 17 in October. This win marked Taylor’s 10th career stoppage victory, and fifth by way of submission, since making his professional debut back in 2007.


 

UFC on FOX 14 – January 24, 2015

UFC on FOX 14 is currently set to take place at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm. A light heavyweight number one contenders’ bout between hometown hero Alexander Gustafsson and knockout artist Anthony Johnson will serve as the night’s main event. The event will be broadcast live on FOX.

UFC Fight Night 60 – February 14, 2015

UFC Fight Night 60 is currently scheduled to take place on  Saturday, February 14 at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado. The main card is expected to air on FOX Sports 1.

UFC Fight Night 61 – February 22, 2015

UFC Fight Night 61 is currently scheduled to take place at the Gigantinho Gymnasium in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. A light heavyweight battle between former champion Rashad Evans and former title contender Glover Teixeira will serve as the main event. The event is expected to air live on FOX Sports 1.

  • Michael Johnson vs. Edson Barboza

Johnson (15-8), the runner-up on season 12 of the The Ultimate Fighter, has not been seen inside the Octagon since his unanimous decision win over Melvin Guillard in their co-main event battle at UFC Fight Night 37 in March. He was originally scheduled to face Josh Thomson at UFC on FOX 12 before an injury forced him out of the bed. Prior to his win over Guillard, ‘The Menace’ picked up a violent second round knockout over Gleison Tibau at UFC 167 in November 2013. He will enter this bout with nine career knockout wins and nine career stoppage wins, including seven career knockouts, and  UFC record of 7-4.

Barboza (15-2) will be looking to extend his win streak to three. In his most recent outing, ‘Junior’ earned a dominant decision win over Bobby Green at UFC Fight Night 57 in November. Prior to this win, the Brazilian walked away with a first round body kick knockout over Evan Dunham at UFC Fight Night 45 in July. He will enter this bout with 11 career stoppage wins, including nine by way of knockout, and a UFC record of 9-2.

  • Iuri Alcantara vs. Frankie Saenz

Alcantara (31-5), a WEC veteran, will be looking to extend UFC win streak to four. In his most recent outing, the Brazilian earned a unanimous decision over Russel Doane at UFC Fight Night 51 in September, marking just the sixth time he has fought to a judge’s decision. Prior to this win, ‘Marajao’ walked away with a violent first round knockout win over Vaugn Lee at UFC Fight Night 41 in May. To date, his last professinal loss came in the form of a unanimous decision to former WEC champion and UFC title contender Urijah Faber at UFC Fight Night 26 in August 2013. He will enter this bout with 25 career stoppage victories and a UFC record of 6-2.

Saenz (9-2), a former King of the Cage champion, was last seen picking up a unanimous decision in his UFC debut against Noland Ticman at UFC Fight Night 47 in August. This victory pushed the Arizona native’s win streak to five. He will enter this bout with five career stoppage victories.

UFC 184 – February 28, 2014

UFC 184 is currently scheduled to take place on Feb. 28 at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. A middleweight title fight between champion Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort will serve as headlining act while a women’s bantamweight title fight Ronda Rousey and Cat Zingano take place in the co-main event.

  • Holly Holm vs. Raquel Pennington

Holm (7-0), a former boxing world champion who amassed a record of 33-2-3, has yet to taste defeat since making the switch to mixed martial arts in 2011. Since then she has laid waste to almost every single opponent thrown her way, securing violent knockouts in several different promotions. In her most recent outing, she earned the inaugural Legacy FC Women’s Bantamweight Championship with a violent headkick knockout over Juliana Werner in the main event of Legacy FC 30 in April. She was originally scheduled make her UFC debut against Pennington at UFC 181 before an injury forced her off the card.

Pennington (5-4), a semifinalist on TUF 18, would go to defeat Holm’s replacement Ashlee Evans-Smith by first round submission. Prior to this win, ‘Rocky’ suffered a close split decision loss to Jéssica Andrade at UFC 171 in March. She will enter this bout with three career stoppage wins and a UFC record of 2-1.

UFC 185 is currently scheduled to take place at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

  • (c) Anthony Pettis vs. Rafael dos Anjos – For UFC lightweight championship

Pettis (18-2), the reigning UFC lightweight champion, was last seen defending his 155-pound title with a second round submission over former Stikeforce, WEC and Dream champion Gilbert Melendez in the co-main event of UFC 181 in December, earning a Performance of the Night bonus in the process. This not only marked his first title defense but also extended his win streak to five, which includes four straight stoppages. Prior to this victory, fans saw ‘Showtime’ crowned the lightweight champion after pulling off a slick first round armbar victory over longtime rival and then champion Benson Henderson in the main event of UFC 164 in August 2013. He will enter this bout with a 15 stoppage wins, including eight by way of knockout, and a UFC record of 5-1

Dos Anjos (23-7), a Kings MMA product, will enter this fight having picked up wins in eight of his last bouts, including three straight. In his most recent outing, the Brazilian walked away with a dominant unanimous decision over Nat Diaz in the co-main event of UFC on FOX 13. Prior to this win, Dos Anjos earned up back-to-back knockout wins over Jason Hight and former champion Benson Hendreson. To date his last professional loss is a unanimous decision to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC on FOX 11 in April. He will enter this bout with 12 career stoppage wins, including eight by submission, and a UFC record of 12-5.
