The Broadmoor World Arena will be shaking on January 9, when Resurrection Fighting Alliance travels to Colorado Springs, CO, for their 22nd event.

RFA 22 will be headlined Chidi Njokuani and Gilbert Smith as the two will scrap for the promotion’s vacant welterweight title. Mark Dickman and Donald Sanchez will square off and serve as the evening’s co-main event.

The Colorado-based event will serve as the weekend’s primary fight card as the UFC and Bellator both take a step back from action.

The MMA Corner’s Garrett Derr is here to break down several main card fights at RFA 22.

Check them out below.

Alvin Robinson vs. Ricky Musgrave

Musgrave enters Friday night on the hottest streak of his career when he meets Robinson is arguably the most meaningful fight of his career. Robinson is a tough code to decipher as he specializes in the submission game, but has been caught himself more times than not. Musgrave’s submission defense continues to improve as he will hold the advantage when the opening bell sounds. Look for Musgrave to put himself in a healthy position early as he captures his fourth consecutive win.

Prediction: Musgrave by Submission, Round 1

Mark Dickman vs. Donald Sanchez

The co-main event will bring unexpected fireworks leading up to the evening’s championship bout. With two utterly different styles at hand, Sanchez brings a wealth of experience to the table, while Dickman has shown time and time again that he can’t be finished. Dickman’s durability will be put to the test as he squares off with an opponent with 23 finishes in his 44-fight career. I expect Dickman to play it safe, carefully choose his shots, and keep his distance en route to a massive victory for his career.

Prediction: Dickman by Decision

Gilbert Smith vs. Chidi Njokuani

I was one of the few that felt Smith was given a raw deal with the UFC after dropping just one contest under the Zuffa banner. He’s shined since his departure and has improved his submission and conditioning considerably. Chances Njokuani will want to stand and exchange while Smith will look to take the fight to the ground. Smith doesn’t have the power to trade with Njokuani, so establishing dominant position on the ground and grinding out another decision win is his key to victory in this one.

Prediction: Smith by Decision
