Sunday’s UFC Fight Night 61 is not the flashy card UFC fans are used to, but that does not mean there will not be some exciting fights.

The main event has two heavyweights who are known for having exciting fights and the ability to finish them. Frank Mir is looking to end his losing streak and show the fans he still has the ability to be a contender in the UFC. Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva is also looking to get a win after his last loss and show that he should be fighting for the title again soon.

The co-main event is a good one. The fight pairs two 155’ers that are looking to make a statement and move into their own contender status. Edson Barboza brings it every time he is in the octagon and Michael Johnson is looking to make a statement on Sunday.

Another great fight on this card is Santiago Ponzinibbio vs. Sean Strickland. Both fighters are coming off of wins and both fighters bring in impressive records. Ponzinibbio is 20-2, winning eleven of his fights by KO/TKO, and the 23-yearold Strickland is an amazing 15-0. These two fighters are looking to build their resume on Sunday.

Let’s predict who will bring home the fight bonuses:

Performance of the Night:

The main event has two heavyweights with endless experience in the UFC. If the fight turns into a boxing match, then Bigfoot Silva could walkaway with a nice knockout and $50,000.

I do not believe it will turn into a boxing match though.

I think that Mir will get “Bigfoot” on the ground and end the fight with one of his world-class submissions and he will take home the Performance of the Night bonus. Oh, and a nice $50,000 check as well.

Fight of the Night:

This is a hard one to predict because the two fights I highlighted earlier both have potential to earn the bonus.

I think the Ponzinibbio vs. Strickland fight is going to be a war. Both fighters are going to put it all in the octagon, but I do not think they will win fight of the night.

I predict the Fight of the Night bonus is going to be Barboza vs. Johnson. I think this fight is going to be special. Barboza is an explosive fighter and is always exciting to watch, but Johnson could be a tough draw for him. He is a good wrestler and can grind you out, but he also has knockout power. This fight has the makings of a good one and I predict it will bring home the Fight of the Night bonus of $50,000.
