On Friday afternoon the UFC announced the addition of the middleweight contest between mixed martial arts icon Dan Henderson and the heavy handed Tim Boetsch had officially been added to UFC Fight Night 68 in June. Henderson (30-12), a former Pride FC and Strikeforce champion, will be looking to snap out of the worst stretch of his stories career. In hist most recent appearance inside the Octagon, ‘Hendo’ came out on the wrong end of a first round TKO against Gegard Mousasi at UFC on FOX 14. This gave the former Olympian’s fifth loss in his last six bouts, and third straight stoppage loss. This contest also marked Henderson’s return to the 185-pound division since 2010. Prior to making the drop in weight, the 44-year-old compiled a record of 5-4 as a member of the UFC’s light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions, including a first round TKO victory over Fedor Emelianenko. In hist last bout at 205-pounds, Henderson suffered a third round submission loss to fellow Olympian Daniel Cormier at uFC 173. Boetsch (18-8) will also be looking to get back into the win column. In hist most recent bout, ‘The Barbarian’ suffered secodn round submission to Thales Leites at UFC 183. While he did earn Fight of the Night honors, this also marked fourth setback in hist six bouts. Prior to this loss, Boetsch walked away with a thrilling come-from-behind second TKO over Brad Tavares in front over his hometown crowd of Bangor, Maine at UFC Fight Night 47 in August, earning his first Performance of the Night bonus of his career. UFC Fight Night 68 is scheduled to take place on June 6 live on FOX Sports 1 from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. A light heavyweight bout between Ryan Bader and Daniel Cormier will serve as the main event.
