On Friday afternoon, following the UFC 184 weigh-in’s, the UFC announced a heavyweight matchup between Matt Mitrione and Ben Rothwell had officially been added to UFC Fight Night 68 in June.

Mitrione (9-3)m a veteran of the 10th season of The Ultimate Fighter, will enter this bout having picked victories in four of his last fights bouts, including his last three, with all four ending by way of first round knockout. In his most recent effort, Mitrione walked away violent first round knockout of UFC veteran Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC on FOX 13 in December. Prior to this win, ‘Meathead’ walked away with a 41-second knockout over Derrick Lewis at UFC Fight Night 50.

Rothwell (34-9) will be looking to make it three straight inside the octagon, with his most recent being first round knockout over former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem of UFC Fight Night 50. This marked Rothwell’s first appearance inside the Octagon since testing positive for elevated levels of testosterone following his third round TKO over Branden Vera in August 2013, resulting in him being handed a nine month suspension.

UFC Fight Night 68 is scheduled to take place on June 6 live on FOX Sports 1 from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. A light heavyweight bout between Ryan Bader and Daniel Cormier will serve as the main event.
