According the the UFC, a welterweight bout between Korean import Dong Hyun Kim and the always popular Josh Burkman has officially been added to UFC 187 in Las Vegas.

Kim (19-3) is coming off a first round TKO loss to Tyron Woodley at UFC Fight Night 48. This not only marked the third first round stoppage loss but also snapped his four fight win streak. Prior to this setback ‘Stun Gun’ walked away with a violent third round knockout over John Hathaway after connecting with a thunderous spinning back elbow to the skull of his opponent, earning not only a ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus but also the UFC’s 2014 knockout of the year. He will enter this bout with nine career stoppage wins, including eight by way of knockout, and a UFC record of 10-3.

Burkman (27-11), a former WSOF title contender, is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Hector Lombard at UFC 183 in January. However, this loss would eventually be rule a No Contest after it was revealed Lombard had failed his post fight drug test. This contest also marked’s Burkman first appearance inside the Octagon since suffering a unanimous decision loss to Pete Sell at UFC 90 back in October 2008.

Since then ‘The People’s Warrior’ would go on to put together a record of 9-2 in various other promotions, including stoppage victories over UFC veterans Aaron Simpson and Jon Fitch under the WSOF banner.

UFC 187 is currently scheduled to take place on May 23 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. A light heavyweight title fight between pound-for-pound king and the hard hitting Anthony Johnson will serve as the headlining act of the card with a middleweight title fight between Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort taking place in the co-main event.
