(Esther Lin/MMAFighting)UFC Fight Night 63: Who Will Win the Fight Night Bonuses? Jeremy Klump April 3, 2015 Events, News, Spotlight UFC Fight Night 63 has a main event that is about as good as it gets when it comes to a free fight: Chad “Money” Mendes vs. Ricardo “The Bully” Lamas. Money Mendes is currently the top ranked featherweight contender behind champion Jose Aldo. He is 16-2 in his career with his only two losses coming to the current champion, Aldo. Mendes is as good as it gets in the featherweight division and has been evolving his game and showing that he is not just an excellent wrestler. He has four KO/TKO victories in his last five wins. This is a fight in which Mendes will try to show that he deserves another title shot against Aldo or Connor McGregor, as they fight for the featherweight belt at UFC 189. If he can come out on Saturday and show that he is still the top contender, then he will get his title shot once again. Ricardo Lamas is currently ranked #4 in the featherweight division and is looking to win his third fight in a row. Other than his loss to champion Jose Aldo, Lamas is 6-0 in the UFC. With a UFC record of 6-1, and his only loss coming to Aldo, Lamas knows that if he comes out on Saturday and beats Mendes, he too with get another shot at the belt. Other notable fights on the card: #14 Jorge Masvidal vs. #15 Al Iaquinta #9 Liz Carmouche vs. Lauren Murphy Dustin Poirier vs. Diego Ferreira Michael Chiesa vs. Mitch Clarke Here are my predictions for the Fight Night bonuses: Fight of the Night: I have to go with the Mendes vs. Lamas fight. Both fighters have so much on the line and both fighters know that a win will give them another shot at the belt. I just think that this main event will have so much energy and it will produce. Both fighters should win rounds and I think it will come down to the fifth and final round. This is a gift for UFC fans because it is free and it will not disappoint while earning the Fight of the Night honors. I have Mendes winning by a close decision. Performance of the Night: The Michael Chiesa vs. Mitch Clarke fight pairs two fighters who both win a majority of their fights by submission, Chiesa at 73% and Clarke at 64%. I think one of these fighters will end the fight with a great submission and I predict it will be Chiesa. The submission victory will earn him Performance of the Night. I am also excited to watch Dustin Poirier fight on Saturday. Before his loss to Connor McGregor, Poirier won his last two fights by KO/TKO. Look for him to bounce back with another KO/TKO and show that he deserves the Performance of the Night bonus.
