Unlike other professional sports, there is no offseason in MMA. Week in and week out fight cards all over the world are taking place. Some weeks there will be major fight cards filled with big name fighters others not so much, but there are fights taking place every week.

Regardless of whether the fighters are household names or not, The MMA Corner will preview the best fight taking place during the week.

This week’s Fight of the Week is the Bellator lightweight title bout between Will Brooks and Dave Jansen.
On Friday, April 10, 2015, Bellator heads to the Bren Events Center in Irvine, Calif., for Bellator 136 where Brooks will look to defend his title for the first time against Jansen.

Undefeated in the Bellator cage this lightweight title shot has been a long time coming for Jansen. After defeating Marcin Held to win the Bellator Season Seven Lightweight Tournament, Jansen had earned his shot at Bellator gold. But after an injury and an extended layoff, Jansen’s shot at the title had to be delayed and re-earned. This past October at Bellator 130, Jansen did just that by defeating Rick Hawn to solidify his position as the #1 contender.

Brooks on the other has been a man on a mission. After going 5-1 in 2013, Brooks earned the opportunity to compete for the Bellator interim lightweight title and then the vacant Bellator lightweight title. In both outings, Brooks proved his mettle defeating the heavily favored Michael Chandler both times.

This Bellator lightweight title fight is going to be spectacular and there is no doubt that this is the “Must See” bout this bust MMA weekend.
