Max Holloway takes on Cub Swanson at UFC on FOX 15 on April 18, 2015. Many believe this is a fight that is too big for Holloway, but I would argue that Holloway is ready to climb to the top.

Holloway is 12-3 in his career with his only three losses coming to Conor McGregor, Denis Bermudez, and Dustin Poirier. Those are three pretty good names in MMA and by no means are people that you should be embarrassed to lose to. Since his last loss, which was to Conor McGregor, Holloway has won five straight. Four of his five victories have been finishes, with three of them coming by way of KO/TKO. His last win, over a very good Cole Miller; Holloway showed that he was ready for bigger fights again. That is exactly what the UFC gave him in Cub Swanson.

Swanson is currently the #5 ranked featherweight in the UFC. With a career record of 21-6, with 52% of his victories coming from KO/TKO, Swanson is the real deal. He has fought some of the best fighters in the world. Before his most recent loss to Frankie Edgar, Swanson was on a six-fight win streak.

This is a huge fight for Holloway. A win would show the UFC and the fans that he is for real and deserves to be fighting the top guys.

Here are the keys to victory for Max Holloway:

Don’t Get Caught In The Hype:

Too many times fighters have big fights, but they get caught up in the hype and lose. Holloway has fought fighters who are better than Swanson and he needs to go into the octagon knowing that. People are saying that this is a big fight for Holloway, but Holloway should make them realize that it is a big fight for Swanson. If he relaxes inside the cage, he is one step closer to a huge victory in the UFC

Stay Controlled:

This is a fight that has haymakers written all over it. Both men are very good at ending the fight by KO/TKO and Saturday night should be no different. The only thing though, Holloway needs to stay controlled and should not just start throwing wild shots. If he can stay controlled, and throw efficient strikes, he is on his way to winning a huge fight on Saturday.

Land The Big One:

Like I said, this is a fight that has haymakers written all over it. Holloway needs to stay controlled and if he does that, he needs to be the one to land the big punch. If he can rock Swanson with a big punch, look for Holloway to end the fight and be one step closer to a title shot.
