(Dave Mandel/Sherdog)UFC on Fox 15: Chis Camozzi’s Key to an Upset Victory RJ Gardner April 15, 2015 Events, Previews, Spotlight On Friday, April 10, 2015, news broke that former Olympic silver medalist Yoel Romero had to withdrawal from his UFC on Fox 15 co-main event bout against fellow contender Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. But UFC vet Chris Camozzi jumped at the opportunity to fill the void on short notice. Not only will UFC on Fox 15 offer Camozzi an opportunity to once again prove that he belongs in the UFC, but it will also grant him a chance at a little revenge. Camozzi was the fighter who originally welcomed Jacare to the UFC back at UFC on FX 8 in May of 2013. Jacare utterly dominated that bout, submitting Camozzi in the very first round. Taking a fight against a fighter like Jacare is something few fighters would have done. But Camozzi is a gamer and even though the deck is stacked him greatly stranger things have happened inside the Octagon. Late replacements like Camozzi should never be underestimated because they have the luxury of fighting without any pressure. The lack of expectations is what makes them dangerous and that is precisely what Camozzi will need to tap into to pull off the upset. Throw Caution to the Wind and Be Unafraid Camozzi doesn’t have any technical advantages over Jacare. But Camozzi can turn those technical disadvantages around if he just looks to overwhelm Jacare. No one expects Camozzi to win this bout and because of that, he has nothing to lose. Camozzi needs to start this fight by throwing everything he has at Jacare. The longer this fight goes and the more comfortable Jacare gets in the cage, the more in danger Camozzi will be. But if he can set the tone early and put Jacare on his heels, he might just have a chance to do the unthinkable.
