ONE Championship 26 – Valor of Champions, heads to The Mall of Asia Arena in Manila on Friday April, 24th. Undefeated #5 ranked welterweight Ben “Funky” Askren (14-0-0 MMA – 1-0-0 ONE-FC) takes on Luis “Sapo” Santos (61-9-1 MMA – 1-0-0 ONE-FC) in this highly anticipated title defense that MMA fans around the world have waited for. Santos has “Promised to end the unbroken streak of Askren” for years, but will now get his chance to make good on those words and possibly take home the belt.  Will Askren be able to impose his will? Or will Santos use his striking and judo to help keep the fight standing, so he can go for the KO?

Tune in Friday as ONE Championship returns to the Philippines for the 6th time, to see if it will be Askren who retains his belt, or if Santos will walk away with it.

Ben Askren vs. Luis Santos – Welterweight Title Bout

This will be one of the toughest tests to date for current champ Askren, as he faces a man with over 7o professional bouts to his name, and a 7 fight win streak with 6 KO’s. Can Santos do what so many others have attempted and failed and beat Askren? Or Will it be Askren who takes the fight to the ground and dismantles yet another fighter, on his way to becoming the top ranked welterweight in the world? We will see as they will finally face off this Friday in what has the making of a great battle for two fighters trying to prove they are among the most élite welterweights in the world.

Prediction: Askren (TKO) Round 4

Mark Striegl vs. Casey Suire – Bantemweight Bout

Mark Striegl, the submission specialist, will look to make it two in a row when he faces face Casey Suire, who has won 4 of his 5 fights by way of submission. These two ground technicians will work to prove who is the better grappler in a highly anticipated bantamweight battle.

Prediction: Striegl (Submission) Round 3

Anatpong Bunrad vs. Geje Eustaquio – Flyweight Bout

Rnatpong Bunrad is a knock out machine, winning his last two bouts by KO in the first round. Gene Eustanquio is coming off a loss back in September where he was submitted in the second round via rear naked choke. Bunrad, having only gone to decision once, will want to go for the knockout on the less experienced striker, Eustaquio. This will be a high paced fight so don’t blink, because you might miss it.

Prediction: Bunrand (KO) Round 1

Paul Cheng vs. Igor Subora – Heavyweight Bout

Paul Cheng is a heavy handed striker with the ability to put his opponents to sleep standing up or on the ground, but can also finish the fight with his submission skills. He is on a 4 fight win streak, and will look to keep his wins alive against Igor Suborn, who is coming off a KO loss to former UFC fighter Brandon Vera back in December. This fight has fireworks written all over it as these two heavyweight beasts will both look for the KO.

Prediction: Cheng (KO) Round 1

Amir Khan vs. Shannon Wiratchai – Featherweight Bout

We will see a classic striker vs. grappler battle in this featherweight match. Shannon Wiratchai will want to come out fast and furious, to blitz Amir Khan with his Pit Bull style of fighting that fans have come to love. Khan will work to get the fight to the ground fast to avoid damage, and work his wrestling and BJJ game so he can go for the sub.  This fight could go either way!

Prediction: Wiratchai (TKO) Round 2

Brianata Rosadhi vs. Eugene Toquero – Flyweight Bout

Brianata Rosadhi is fighting for the first time in 19 months after suffering his first professional loss at ONC FC 10 – Boku vs. Colossa, where he was submitted by Raymond Tan in the first round. Eugene Toquero will try to keep his momentum up after winning his last fight at ONE FC -15 Rise Of Heroes, where he took home the unanimous decision. Toquero will want to use his experience to dictate the fight and hopefully get the finish. While Rosadhi must get back on the horse and see if he has what it takes to fight in the top Asian promotion.

Prediction: Toquero (Submission) Round 3

Edward Kelly vs. Jimmy Yabo – Featherweight Bout

Featherweight prospect Edward Kelly is coming off a loss, with hopes to get back in the winning column. Jimmy Yabo is on a tear with 4 wins and 4 knockouts. With one man wanting to get back to winning and one man not wanting to feel a loss, we are in for a treat as this is sure to be a great battle. Will it be Yabo or Kelly to walk out of the cage victorious in a match that has fight of the night possibilities?

Prediction: Yabo (TKO) Round 1

Wang Ya Wei vs. Sunoto Peringkat – Featherweight Bout

Look for Ya Wei to try to get it to the ground early, in yet another wrestler vs. striker match-up. The only difference is that after Wei became one of the top wrestlers in his home country of China, he decided to focus on Muay Thai and moved to Thailand. So if it does turn into a stand up fight Wei should be able to hold his own. Sunoto Perinkat is known for his Muay Thai, being a world champion from his home country of Indonesia. Peringkat will work to keep the fight standing where he will be able to showcase his world champion Muay Thai skills and go for the knockout.

Prediction: Ya Wei (Unanimous Decision)
