It looks like the UFC’s women’s strawweight division just got a new contender.

On Monday night, during an episode of UFC Tonight, it was revealed former Invicta FC atomweight champion Michelle Waterson has officially signed with the UFC.

Waterson (12-4), a Jackson-Winkeljohn product, was last seen on the receiving end of a shocking third round submission loss to Herica Tiburcio in the main event of Invicta FC 10 in December, losing her atomweight title in the process. This loss not only snapped “The Karate Hottie’s” six fight win but also marked her first defeat under the Invicta FC banner.

Prior to this setback, Waterson defended her belt with a TKO victory over Yasuko Tamada at Invicta FC 9 September. To date, 10 of her 12 wins have ended in stoppage, including seven by way of submission.’

Waterson is expected to make her UFC debut sometime in summer. An opponent has yet to be named.
