On Saturday, May 2, 2015, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in las Vegas, the 38-year-0ld Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. (48-0) unified the WBA (Super), WBC, WBO, lineal, and Ring Magazine welterweight titles with his unanimous decision victory over eight-division world champion and fan favorite Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather won on all judges score cards (118-110, 116-112, 116-112) by using his patented defensive skills and counter punching to cruise to the outcome most experts predicted.

Pacman by contrast felt he did enough to get the “W,” and since has revealed he went into the bout with a shoulder injury suffered during training camp. Mayweather has since stated he plans on vacating all the belts in order to give others a chance and will fulfill the last bout on his six-fight contract with Showtime before retiring. While there has been much speculation about who Money will face in his swan song, nothing definitive has come out of the Mayweather camp.

Mayweather vs. Pacquio will re-air this Saturday, May 9, on HBO before the Canelo Alvarez vs. James Kirkland bout.
