For the first time ever, the UFC will be hosting an event in the Philippines. On Saturday, May 16, 2015, the UFC invades the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Philippines for UFC Fight Night: Edgar vs. Faber.

The main event of the evening features a matchup between former champions as former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar takes on former longtime WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber.

The UFC has been putting a lot of effort into breaking into the greater Asian market and this is definitely a strong play to gain some ground there. This event features an intriguing line up of fights that feature some of Asia’s best and brightest young talent.

Asian Talent

Asia has always been a hotbed of MMA talent, but very few have made it big in the UFC. With the organization pushing into the market more and more, they will need some Asian star power; fighters the Asian fan base can get behind. At UFC Fight Night 66, many of the organizations Asian prospects will be on full display for fight fans.

Mark Munoz’s Swan Song

Regardless of what happens on Saturday, this will be Munoz’s final bout as he is set to retire and focus on his family. As one of the best pure wrestlers to ever compete in the UFC, Munoz’s career saw some ups and downs, but even though he never really ascended to title contention, he was always in the mix. The UFC will be losing one of the good guys on Saturday.

Gegard Mousasi vs. Costas Philippou

The co-main event between Mousasi and Philippou is a fight that may not be on a lot of fans’ radar, but it should be. This one is going to be fun to watch because both men have knockout power in their hands and both men love to stand and trade. Someone will be going to sleep in this bout; you can take that to the bank.

Frankie Edgar vs. Urijah Faber

Even though Edgar and Faber are both getting a little long in the tooth, this is a bout fans have been salivating for since it was announced. These are two of the finest lighter weight fighters to ever compete in the sport and this matchup has potential to be a great one. Both guys have endless gas tanks, uncanny heart and iron wills. Just sit back and enjoy this one because it’s going to be amazing.
