After an initial report from several different outlets announcing the death of TUF 5 veteran Cory Hill, including the UFC releasing a statement mourning the loss of their former fighter, the UFC veteran’s fighter wife Lauren has come out to put a stop to the rumors of her husband’s untimely passing.

“My husband is a strong fighter,” Lauran Hill told TMZ. “Please everyone pray for him.”

This announcement directly contradicts close friends announced Hill died after a bout with pneumonia. It should also be noted the UFC redacted their previous statement regarding Hill’s death.

Hill (6-9) first rose to prominence during season five of The Ultimate Fighter. During tryouts and production for the show, he told the UFC that he was 4–0, but he was actually 2–0, both wins from amateur bouts. Standing at 6’4″ and competing at 155-pounds, Hill was immediately pegged as one the favorites due to his massive size advantage compared to the other lightweights. He would eventually lose in the semi-finals to the eventual tournament winner Nate Diaz.

Following the taping of the show, Hill earned a spot on the UFC roster with an impressive second round TKO over Joe Veres at UFC Fight Night 12. He would however drop his next bout to Justin Buchholz before suffering one of the most gruesome injuries in UFC history where fans saw his right leg snap in half after throwing a kick that was checked by Dale Hartt.
