St. Preux (18-6), a former University of Tennessee linebacker, is coming off one of the biggest wins of his career in the form of a violent first round knockout over Patrick Cummins at UFC on FOX 15. This marked his second straight knockout victory with the previous one being 34-second KO over former UFC champion Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua. Prior to this string of wins, ‘OSP’ suffered a unanimous decision loss to Ryan Bader in their main event matchup at UFC Fight Night 47 in August. The loss snapped OSP’s five-fight winning streak. Teixeira (22-4) will enter this bout riding a career worst two-fight win streak, with his most recent outing being a one-sided unanimous decision to former NCAA wrestling national champion Phil Davis in the co-main event of UFC 179. Prior to this setback, the Brazilian knockout artist saw his 20-fight win streak snapped at the hands of former champion Jon Jones in their title fight at UFC 172. He was originally scheduled to return against Alexander Gustaffson at UFC Fight Night 69 before Gustaffsson pulled out with an injury. As a result the UFC scrapped the fight all together.
