The Nashville Post initially reported the news on Tuesday. Alvey (26-6), the former MFC Middleweight Champion, has risen to prominence in the last few months after rattling off three straight first knockout victories over Dylan Andrews, Cezar Ferreira and Dan Kelly. Appropriately named “Smile’n,” the TUF 16 veteran has won seven of his last eight bouts, with only one of those victories reaching the judges scorecard. Brunson (13-3), a 3x Division II All-American Wrestler, will enter this bout having won four of his last five bouts, incldung his lat two. In his his most recent effort being, the Jackson MMA product earned a 36-second TKO over Ed Herman at UFC 183 in January. To date his last loss came at the hand of top tanked Yoel Romero where fans saw Brunson succumb to strikes after winning the first two rounds. UFC Fight Night 73 is set to takes place August 8 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. A light heavyweight bout between former University of Tennesee football player Ovince Saint Preux and former title contender Glover Teixeira will serve as the main event.
