Demetrious Johnson Set to Defend Flyweight Title in Rematch Against Jon Dodson José Youngs June 24, 2015 Events, News, Spotlight On Wednesday afternoon it was revealed the UFC is targeting John Dodson as the next number one contender for Demetrious Johnson’s flyweight title. The news was first broken during a segment on UFC Tonight. Johnson (21-2-1) previously defeated defeated Dodson in their main event title fight at UFC on FOX 6 in January 2013. In his most recent bout, “Mighty Mouse” submitted Kyoji Horiguchi at 4:59 of the final round of the UFC 186 title fight, making it the latest stop in UFC history. This also marked his seconds straight submission win with his previous being coming against Chris Cariaso in the main event of UFC 178 last September. He currently holds 13 career stoppage wins, including nine by way of submission. Dodson (17-6-1) will enter this bout having picked up wins in eight of his last nine bouts, including his last three. In his most recent outing he seen earning a decision win over Zach Makovsky at UFC 187 last month. This marked “The Magician’s” first appearance inside the Octagon since his second round TKO over John Moraga last June. It was not soon after it was revealed he injured his knee in training camp. He will enter this bout with 1o career stoppage wins, including eight by way of knockout. There is currently no word on where or when this bout will take place but according to reports Johnson is hoping for UFC 191 on Labor Day weekend in Las Vegas.
