Stephen Thompson (Esther Lin/MMA Fighting)The Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale: Who Will Win the Fight Night Bonuses? Scott Bond July 11, 2015 Events, News, Spotlight The Ultimate Fighter 21 may be in the shadow of UFC 189, which goes down on Saturday, but capping the week of with Jake Ellenberger vs. Stephen Thompson, the final fight in TUF 21, Kamaru Usman vs. Hayder Hassan, and the return of Jorge Masvidal, when he faces off against Cezar Ferreira, is a great way to spend a Sunday in my opinion. Fight of the Night Bonus My prediction for the Fight of the Night Bonus goes to Kamaru Usman vs. Haydar Hassan. If the last fight on TUF 21 between Hassan and Luque is an indication on how much pride both of these camps have in themselves, the final fight of the TUF 21 season will be a spectacular fight. With Hassan facing off against Usman you get the classic striker vs. grappler battle. Both of these fighters know how to follow a game plan and don’t want to let down their respective camps as they have shown themselves to each be leaders this season. With all this coming together and the fact that the entire TUF 21 season is on the line in this one fight, I see these fighters leaving it all in the Octagon and the outcome being a close split decision for Usman and the Blackzilians. Performance of the Night Bonuses For my first prediction of the Performance of the Night Bonus winner, I will take the number 14 welterweight Jorge Masvidal. Yes, Masvidal has had issues with finishing his opponents recently, but I believe his last fight against Al Iaquinta where he lost a razor close split decision was enough to bring about change. I predict Masvidal is going to come out and destroy Ferreira on Sunday to show that he learned from the Iaquinta fight and get an early KO/TKO stoppage at the end of the first round or the beginning of the second round. For my final prediction of the Performance of the Night Bonus winners, I will take Stephen Thompson over Jake Ellenberger. Thompson is one of the best pure strikers in the welterweight division and most people would look at this matchup and say it favours Ellenberger because of his outstanding wrestling. I see this fight taking place where Ellenberger wants, and I feel like he will want to stand with Thompson for brief moments and those moments will be long enough for Thompson to do damage. Thompson will land some spectacular kicks from distance and he will catch Ellenberger early in the first round and win by KO/TKO.
