On Wednesday, during the broadcast of UFC Fight Night 71, the UFC announced the flyweight title fight between reigning champion Demetrious Johnson and the powerful John Dodson will serve as the main event of UFC 191 in September. Johnson (21-2-1) previously defeated defeated Dodson in their main event title fight at UFC on FOX 6 in January 2013. In his most recent bout, “Mighty Mouse” submitted Kyoji Horiguchi at 4:59 of the final round of the UFC 186 title fight, making it the latest stop in UFC history. This also marked his seconds straight submission win with his previous being coming against Chris Cariaso in the main event of UFC 178 last September. He currently holds 13 career stoppage wins, including nine by way of submission. Dodson (17-6-1) will enter this bout having picked up wins in eight of his last nine bouts, including his last three. In his most recent outing he seen earning a decision win over Zach Makovsky at UFC 187 last month. This marked “The Magician’s” first appearance inside the Octagon since his second round TKO over John Moraga last June. It was not soon after it was revealed he injured his knee in training camp. He will enter this bout with 1o career stoppage wins, including eight by way of knockout. Also announced the for the card is light heavyweight contest between former title contender Anthony Johnson and Jan Blachowicz, a bantamweight bout between Francisco Rivera and former flyweight John Lineker and a women’s strawweight matchup between Paige VanZant and Alex Chambers. UFC 191 is currently set to take place on Sept. 5 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
