Earlier today, World Series of Fighting officials announced that, due to a previous suspension in the state of Nevada, Thiago Silva has been declared ineligible to compete on the upcoming WSOF 22: Palhares vs. Shields on Saturday, Aug. 1. As a result, Clifford Starks will now face Silva’s scheduled opponent Mike Kyle.

Due to the previous suspension, Silva must attend a future Nevada State Athletic Commission hearing. The next hearing takes place in Aug.

“We hope that Thiago will take the steps necessary to be in compliance with the state athletic commission so that he can make a quick return to action,” stated WSOF President Ray Sefo. “In the meantime, we appreciate Clifford Starks’ willingness to take the fight against Mike Kyle on just a few days’ notice, and look forward to having him compete for us again after putting on a great show in the WSOF cage in March.”

The 34-year-old Starks (11-2) of Tempe, Ariz. is coming off a second round submission win over Jake Heun at WSOF 19. The victory marked former UFC light heavyweight’s third straight win and second consecutive finish.

WSOF 22 is scheduled to take place Aug. 1 atLas Vegas’ Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino and will feature highly anticipated world title fights with reigning WSOF welterweight champion Rousimar Palhares vs. former Stikeforce champion and UFC title contender Jake Shields  as well as a WSOF bantamweight title fight between champion Marlon Moraes vs. undefeated challenger Sheymon Moraes .
