On Satruday, Aug. 1, UFC officials announced a matchup between a pair of former UFC heavyweight champions in Andrei Arlovski and Frank Mir had officially been booked for the co-main event of UFC 191 in September.

Arlovski (24-10) will enter this bout riding a five fight win streak, including his last three inside the Octagon. In his two most recent fights, ‘The Pitbull’ walked away with back-to-back first round knockouts over Travis Browne and Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva. Prior to this he defeated Brenden Schaub by way of controversial decision at UFC 174 in June. This marked Arlovski’s first appearance inside a UFC octagon since UFC 82 in 2008.

Mir (18-9) will be looking to improve on his own two knockout win streak. In his most recent contest, the Las Vegas native obliterated Todd Duffee with a powerful straight left in the main even of UFC Fight Night 71 in July. Prior to this, Mir knocked out out ‘Bigfoot’ in the main event of UFC Fight Night 67, snapping his four fight losing streak in the process.

UFC 191 is currently set to take place on Sept. 5 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. flyweight title fight between Demetrious Johnson and John Dodson will serve as the headlining act.
